Dog not able to Jump or Climb
One of the first things to go as a dog gets older or starts having health problems is their ability to jump and climb as high as they used to. If you have a dog that used to regularly sleep on your bed or on the sofa, this could mean your pet is no longer able to get to those familiar and well-loved perches or could get hurt trying to. Many pets are no longer able to jump like they used to be able to and are not willing to let their abilities go. They will continue to try to do what they used to be able to do and will often do more damage to their bodies in the process.
You can help your pet out by creating a safe way for him or her to still be able to get on the bed, without getting hurt by getting dog steps for various locations in your home. In The Living Room
The first place you should consider a set of steps is in the living room. If you have a lap dog, or at least a dog that likes to put its head in your lap while you kick back and watch TV, getting old and not being able to jump up is likely very frustrating to your pet. He wants to be able to be right there beside you like he always has been, but his body won\'t let him. This can be very saddening for a dog and can actually lead to a form of depression in your pet.
Instead of allowing your dog to be unhappy, let him or her feel like things are pretty much normal by getting a set of dog steps that you can set at one end of the sofa and teach him or her how to use those steps to get back in that favorite old position.
