History of Pyrenean Mastiff Dogs
This breed was developed in the region of the Pyrenean Mountains. It is descended from mastiff type dogs that were brought to Spain by the ancient Phoenician traders. Its primary use was that of a guard dog for livestock.
It weighs around 20-155 pounds and stands up to 28-32 inches. Its coat is Moderate length on the back; longer on tail, neck, chest and backs of legs. Basically they are white with body or head markings of grays, brindle, black and orange.
Mastiffs are very calm and have a kindly attitude. They are fine with other animals and dogs, as long as their family or property is not threatened. Pyrenean Mastiff can become very dreadful to whoever is endangering his property. It is a powerful dog with great inherent qualities.
The Pyrenean Mastiff is meek, tractable and extremely intelligent. Many of these dogs have been raised with other dogs and carefully supervised. There is a certain degree of same-sex aggression. They will not threaten another without reason, and are mostly a gentle but brave breed. \"Pyrenean Mastiffs are very brave and fierce with strangers.
